Crime branch Bhopal and Kamla Nagar police busted a betting racket in a joint action at Ambedkar Nagar, New Delhi. The betting racket is operated by a couple. The police seized a sum of Rs. 1.38 lakhs, one mobile phone and betting slips from the possession.
The police followed a tip-off and raided the house at Ambedkar Nagar. Five people including a woman were caught red handed placing and accepting bets. The accused are identified as Kishore Bhat, Yogesh Pathre and Omprakash Bamnere, and the couple was identified as Yashoda Bagde and Siddhartha alias Haini Bagde.
The couple is known to organise betting at their residence, and the three men visited to place bets. A case is registered under Gambling Act by the police and further investigations are going on. More details of the couple are being looked in, to reveal any other betting rackets.
In another case that came to light from Hanumanganj, police made arrests of two men, involved in illegal betting and recovered Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession on Friday.
