Gambling rackets are widespread across the country. Recently, an enquiry commission was set up for the Una police officials as it is believed that the police officials of that area are involved in “satta” gambling, then the state police busted a gambling racket in Vadodara, Gujarat and now gambling racket busted in Jammu and Kashmir. It’s high time that the law commission of the country takes necessary steps to check the exponential growth of gambling rackets in this year.
The police arrested ten people on Thursday on charges of gambling from Jammu and Kashmir’s Bari Brahmana area in Samba district and also busted Rs 1.92 lakh. The police got an anonymous tip off on the gambling racket and acted quickly. When the police party arrived at TelliBasti they caught those miscreants red handed. They were all found playing cards and betting money on their game. The culprits were detained under the Public Gambling Act said one of the police officers.
This is not the first time a gambling racket has been busted in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this year, the police raided and caught three people. Gambling is blooming throughout the nation and most of them are illegal and punishable under the law but it doesn’t stop gamblers from betting illegally.
