Police from Kharavela Nagar police station busted a gambling unit at Malisahi (Bhubaneswar) and arrested B. Prasad, K. Madhab, Narasingh Reddy, Benudhar Sethi, Jagaya Reddy, and P. Balaram. The gambling unit which was busted recently was operating by these six local residents under Kharavela Nagar police station. It becomes the fourth gambling unit which is busted in the state capital within a week.
The cops recovered Rs 13,750 in cash from the accused. “The gambling unit had been operating in the area for the past few months and the accused mainly targeted passengers from Bhubaneswar railway station,” said a police officer. In adherence with the cops, people working outside of Odisha return to home during Durga Puja. The unit, interestingly, targets the passengers at Bhubaneswar railway station and Baramunda bus terminal.
The cops had busted a Ganganagar based gambling unit on October 2nd. They seised Rs 30,000 in cash, two laptops, and arrested 11 people. It was followed by two more groups busted by Kharavela Nagar and Capital police. Most of the gambling rackets comprise of two to three people as per the police. Satyabrata Bhoi, the deputy commissioner of police, Bhubaneswar, urged the victims to lodge complaints in the police station.
