Gambling bust goes out of hand in Ahmedabad

Recently a gambling bust goes out of hand as the gamblers beat down two police officers when they intervened in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at 3 AM in the morning.

Two police officers named Kiransinh Gopalsinh and Dilipkumar Ishwarbhai were severely injured when they interrupted four men gambling on the road. The assault took place in Meghaninagar area of the city. It was in the wee hours of the day when the police officers were patrolling the streets, ensuring the city’s safety and they saw four men gambling under a lamp post.

“We would often get complaints from that vicinity about something illegal or wrong going on, but every time we tried to catch them, the miscreants would flee away. Today, we were just patrolling the streets like every other night, as the railway tracks pass through the locality, many people are seen on the streets. Our suspicion got stronger when those four men had a loud baffle on the betting money. We intervened, and they attacked us. It was 3:00 AM in the morning when it happened,” said one of the police officers.

The four police officers were patrolling on their motorbikes, and in the assault, their bikes were also damaged. The four culprits were identified as Pintoo Nadia, Mayur Nadia, Hitesh Nadia and Sagar Bharwad, an army personnel. The patrolling officers were constable Kiransinh, Head constable Diipkumar, another constable Prakash Bhikabhai and constable Vishnu Hirabhai.

On noticing the police officers arrived, the four assailants attacked the constables surprisingly with a cricket bat before any discussion and also damaged their bikes. Kiransinh was the first to retaliate back, so they hit him very badly on the forehead with the bat while others including head constables were also beaten up. The injured constables were rushed to Civil Hospital by the backup units as soon as they could reach.
