Bangladesh Premier League 2017, Bangladesh’s own franchise based T20 league is scheduled to start from 4th November. This season, there will be 42 league matches and 4-knockout matches. The tournament which was scheduled to begin with 8 teams including the newly joined franchise Sylhet Sixers, will have to continue with seven teams only after Barisal Bulls got banned due to payment issues.

Last year’s winner Dhaka Dynamites will once again play under the captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan. The balanced mix of international players and new emerging talents is the backbone of Dhaka Dynamites. T20 specialists, such are Kieron Pollard, Shane Watson, Shahid Afridi, Sunil Narine and Kevon Cooper are the strength of Dhaka Dynamites.

Comilla Victorian didn’t have a good tournament last year. The Champions of 2015, ended second last in the point table in 2016. After last year’s bizarre performance Comilla Victorians are believed to start the tournament with new captain and refreshing squad. Tamim Iqbal who was initially believed to lead the team will be unavailable for the first two weeks after he got injured in the on-going South Africa tour. Pakistan’s veterans Shoaib Malik, West Indies allrounder Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo are the pillars of Victorians squad.

This is the fifth season of Bangladesh Premier League for Chittagong Vikings. They will play under the captaincy of Bangladesh star opening batsman Soumya Sarkar. Although they are studded with many international players but none of them have been able to get into the list of T20 specialists. This year, Pakistan’s former captain Misbah-ul-Haq will play for Vikings. There are many other international stars that will play for Vikings this season like Luke Ronchi, Jeevan Mendis, Yasir Arafat, Liam Dawson, Skiander Raja and Afghanistan’s Najibullah Zadran.

The local talents of Bangladesh such as Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Dhiman Ghosh are not much recognized but can impress with their capabilities.

Rajshahi Kings ended up second in the last year. They will try to grab the number one spot this year which they missed after losing in final last year. This year they will play under the captaincy of Bangladesh’s longer format captain Mushfiqur Rahman. The biggest worry for Kings as of now is the injury of their star player Mustafizur Rahman. He will be on rest for at least six weeks. The presence of West Indies’s experienced players Darren Sammy, Lendl Simons and Kesrick Williams will help Kings continue their momentum.

Apart from these international stars, the domestic players of Riders are too excited to deliver to their full potential.
