Afghanistan U-19 vs Sri Lanka U-19, 2nd Semi-Final

The second semi-final of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup will see Sri Lanka take on defending champions’ Afghanistan in what is expected to be a riveting encounter at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Where:- Shere Bangla Stadium, Dhaka

Match Timing:- Friday, October 05, 2018, 08:30 AM IST

Sri Lanka U-19 have had an imperious tournament thus far as they finished off the group-stage unscathed with three wins in as many matches.  Their last game resulted in a 23-run win over Pakistan after their bowlers led by Kalhara Senarathne (2-32) restricted Pakistan to 8-177 in pursuit of 8-200. Earlier, Kalana Perera (51) and skipper Nipun Dananjaya’s 33 helped the Lankans post 200 in 49.4 overs.

Afganistan, meanwhile, will come into this all-important semi-final on the back of a 51-run loss at the hands of India after they failed to chase down 222 set by the Men in Blue. While Azmatullah (3-46) and Qais Ahmed (3-33) helped their side restrict India to a manageable 221, they were severely let down by their batsmen as despite a 56-run opening stand courtsey Riaz Hussan (47) and Rahmanullah (37), their middle-order capitulated in scintillating fashion against Siddarth Desai (4-37) and Harsh Tyagi (3-40) to fold for a meagre 170 in 45.4 overs; 51 runs adrift of the target.
