After suffering a 0-2 drubbing at the hands of Afghanistan, hosts Ireland will look to shrug of their abysmal run-of-form when they take on Afghans in the first ODI on Monday.

Ireland’s recurring problems against the spin bowling was at the forefront in the T20I series where their batsmen were bamboozled by the duo (12 wickets) of Mujeeb and Rashid Khan, and their trial against the same would decide their fate in the ODIs.
William Porterfield will take over the leadership mantle from Gary Wilson, who led the side in T20s. They’ll rely on the likes of Nial O’Brien, Tim Murtagh and the experienced campaigners in Stirling, Kevin O’Brien and Gary Wison.
Their task will be cut-out against the NO.10 ranked Afghanistan side, who have given the maiden ODI cap to Wafadar, who impressed in the Test against India back in June, while the likes of Hashmatullah Shahidi and Aftab Alam, who are making their comebacks to the squad will bolster the squad.
