Ford Trophy, 2018
Otago vs Central Districts, 11th Match | OTG vs CD WHO WILL WIN
The 11th match of the 2018 Ford Trophy will see Otago lock horns with Central Districts as both sides aim to resurrect their fledgeling campaign on Sunday.
After hammering the Northern Knights in their last fixture by nine wickets, Otago got the taste of their own medicine as they were hammered by 193 runs by the Wellington Firebirds.
While Jacob Duffy (2-45) and Nathan G Smith (2-53) were the standouts, their bowling attack as a unit was put to the swords by rampaging Andrew Fletcher, who stroked his way to his second ton of the series with a 150-ball-125. Able support from Devon Conway (74) and Michael Bracewell (66) helped Wellington rack up 6-301 in 50 overs.
Chasing 302 was always going to be a tall order for Otago and after a decent start from Hamish Rutherford (44) and Mitch Renwick (25), their middle-order suffered a complete meltdown to get bowled for an appalling 108- 193 runs adrift of the target.
They’ll now face Central Districts, whose campaign has hit a roadblock after their 37-run win in the first match.
While the Districts lost their second game to Canterbury by five wickets, the last fixture against Northern Knights was abandoned due to wet outfield.
