South Africa tour of Windies, 2018
Windies Women vs South Africa Women, 3rd T20
The World Champions continued with their dominance over the Proteas as they registered a comfortable nine-wicket win in the second T20I to take a 2-0 lead in the 5-match series.
Venue:- Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad
Match Timing:- Monday, October 01, 2018, 01:30 AM IST
Just like the first match, South Africa’s struggles with the bat was at the heart of their nine-wicket shellacking at the hands of the Windies.
Batting first, the Proteas lost wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee and Sune Luus without them troubling the scorers when skipper Niekirk (36) and the middle-order in Tryon (21), Mignon du Preez (27) and Kapp (14) consolidated the innings despite not being able to force the issue. None of the batters could kick on and build a momentum into the innings before a final nail in the coffin was laid by Anisa Mohammad (5-24) who claimed a hattrick in the last over to keep SA to a hugely underwhelming 8-101. Chasing 102 was never going to be a problem and Windies Women despite losing Hayley Matthews for 17, strolled past the target in 15.3 overs thanks to an unbeaten 72-run stand between Natasha McLean (42) and skipper Stefanje Taylor.
With two matches already lost, South Africa will need to bounce back quickly if they are to salvage the 5-match T20 series.
