ICC Women’s World Twenty20, 2018

England Women vs Sri Lanka Women, Group A, 4th Match

In the opening game of Match Day 2 in the most awaited 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20, we have England Women locking horns with Sri Lanka Women in the 4th match of the tournament. After the terrific batting display in the opening game of the tournament, all eyes would be on England Women, who would kick off as one of the favourites to start in this tournament even without their 33 years old ace pace Katherine Brunt. Katherine Brunt had to be taken off from the ground for a scan in the warm up match against India after she could not manage to bowl an over, due to her recurring back problems. But for the reigning world champions in the longer format of the game would not let the absence of their star bowler to be a setback as they now eye to win the shorter version of the tournament this time around. The English Women would come into this game to build on their world cup momentum but that might not be that hard against the struggling Sri Lankan women side.

The Lankans might look to start this tournament on a fresh note leaving behind their practice match massacre against Ireland Women where they lost the game by 8 wickets. Prior to that they also lost to New Zealand Women in the first practice match by 6 wickets. It seems like nothing is going in the favour of the Sri Lankans but they would be hoping if the 17 year old Kavisha Dilhari would change the momentum of the team. Though the 17 year old would make it in the starting lineup or not remains a doubt but her cameo against India in the previous series would surely give her a chance to prove herself in this tournament.

I always hate talking about myself because it feels weird to talk about myself honestly. Ever think that it's weird? No? Just me? My bad. Always hungry, always sleepy and in between always writing. Hope you won't mind!
